How payments, payouts, refunds, and disputes work on the Xploreum Platform.
Xploreum Payment Terms

These Payment Terms ("Payment Terms") are part of the overall Terms and Conditions between you ("you" or "User") and Xploreum, Inc. ("Xploreum," "we," "us," or "our"), and apply to all financial transactions that take place through the Xploreum platform (the "Platform").
By using the Platform and initiating any payment or payout, you agree to be bound by these Payment Terms.
1. Third-Party Payment Processors
1.1. All financial transactions, including payments from Xplorers and payouts to Thrillmasters, are processed by third-party providers such as Stripe, and are subject to their terms and privacy policies.
1.2. Xploreum does not store full credit card or bank account details. We only retain identifiers and tokens necessary for processing and security.
1.3. You authorize Xploreum and its third-party processors to charge your designated payment method or disburse funds as applicable.
2. Currency and Fees
2.1. All prices are displayed and processed in the currency indicated at checkout. Currency conversion fees may apply.
2.2. Xploreum may charge Service Fees or Booking Fees, which will be disclosed during the checkout or onboarding process.
2.3. You are responsible for any additional transaction fees charged by your bank, card issuer, or payment provider.
3. Timing of Charges and Payouts
3.1. Xplorers: Your payment method will be charged immediately upon booking unless otherwise specified in the listing.
3.2. Thrillmasters: Payouts are typically issued within 5–7 business days after the completion of the Xpedition, subject to Stripe processing and any dispute holds.
3.3. Xploreum may delay or withhold payouts in the event of suspected fraud, chargebacks, account violations, or legal obligations.
4. Cancellations and Refunds
4.1. All cancellation and refund policies are defined by each Thrillmaster and displayed on the booking page. Xplorers are bound by those policies.
4.2. If a refund is approved by the Thrillmaster, it will be processed back to the original payment method. Refund timing may vary by bank or provider.
4.3. Xploreum may issue refunds at its sole discretion only where required by law or in extraordinary circumstances.
5. Taxes
5.1. Thrillmasters are solely responsible for determining, collecting, and remitting any applicable taxes, including sales tax, GST/HST, VAT, or tourism levies.
5.2. Xploreum may collect taxes in jurisdictions where we are legally obligated to do so, and will remit them to the appropriate authority.
5.3. If applicable, taxes will be shown as a line item at checkout.
6. Disputes and Chargebacks
6.1. If you dispute a payment, you agree to first contact us at payments@xploreum.io to attempt resolution before initiating a chargeback with your bank.
6.2. Unresolved chargebacks may result in suspension or termination of your account.
6.3. Xploreum reserves the right to recover any disputed or reversed payments through legal means or by offsetting future payouts.
7. Fraud and Unauthorized Use
7.1. You agree to provide accurate payment information and not to use any payment method you do not have legal authorization to use.
7.2. Xploreum reserves the right to cancel any booking or withhold funds in the event of suspected fraud, unauthorized activity, or legal non-compliance.
8. Modifications
We may update these Payment Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or Platform notice. Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
